Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 i fitted a dgas to my pinto powered cortina i also added the heat spacer between the carb and manifold as mine didnt have one on before ! so that was the modds for the weekend all on and started up in a hour or so went out it ran fine went like shit off a shovel but there was a vibrating noisde under heavy acceleration 20 quids worth of fuel later and now starting to get headache i still for the life of me not work out what was catching/ knocking the next day i set about fitting a new engine mount on the carb side of my engine (both engine mounts now matched ) as i had a thin one on one side and thick one on the other before went out for a test drive now the knocking and rattling was different so different i started to think the bottom end was knocking with the car ticking over and bonet open there was a terrrable knock clunk rattle but couldnt feel any thing through tghe sump still couldnt pin point it i was thinking bottom end or flywheel/ clutch two mates looked at it no they couldnt pin point it then after a weekend away a very clever friend of mine got home so he came to look he pointed at the strut braceand said take that off fook me it was rattling ont the carb top yes i know youre pissing yourselfs now

Admin Vista Posted September 23, 2008 Admin Report Posted September 23, 2008 I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it, let him who hath never made a schoolboy error cast the first stone. Aren't you meant to have an engine mount that's a different size each side of the engine then? Most other pinto installations do.
