project_pearl Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 Now the welding on the underside is all done ive zinced the metal then seam sealed the repairs, but know wanna spray some stonechip on the over them. The problem is the floor is realy dirty a mixture of waxoil, oil, grease ect. . . I wanna get it nice and clean before spraying over the repairs so im not spraying over dirt, but so far ive tried scraper, wirebrush, brake cleaner, thinners and degreaser with no real luck What can i use without stripping the old underseal of with is still good? Or just more elbow grease? Thanks Charlie
john_3.0s Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 normally a scraper with a hot air gun gets the worst of it off, then some thinners and elbow grease to clean up the mess afterwards. depends how pick you are i suppose! is it not coming off at all? normall the scraper means it needs re-painting anyway
project_pearl Posted October 20, 2008 Author Report Posted October 20, 2008 The scraper digs into the original rubber stonechip, witch i wanna keep, because its protected the car well. I just wanna put some fresh stonechip on the repaired areas for the mot Dont fancy taking the whole floor back to bare metal, just want it clean lol. Thanks Charlie
Rick Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 get a rag and a litre of thinners and a brush of somesort for the nook sand crannies. it takes forever and youl be high as a kite but does the job
Mick The Mig Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Find someone in your area who will steam-clean it. Commercial repairers usually have this facility.
cisco24uk Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Jack the car up on one side and get one of those karcher jet washers you can get at halfords and get a good truck wash with a plant sprayer and have at it.
5hane Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 im hopefully getting the underside of mine sandblasted it will everything off, minimal effort
