I'm told by several people who were at the Brighton Speed Trials that at least one person and possibly two of his friends who are known car thieves were at the speed trials showing interest in my and other Escorts... whether it was the same people or their friends who paid me a visit is at present the unknown piece of this jigsaw puzzle.... I'm sorry if you don't believe what I have said, I just hope you and all other OSF owners don't have to go through the trauma of being robbed.... I'm only to aware of how lucky I was , sadly many owners on here weren't and any information I can post that might be of help or deter these thieves or make owners aware of the car the thieves might use then I'll do it

please dont think im asking cos i dont believe you. as a worried owner myself im interested in how the thieves are making the connection betwwen cars out and about, or worse still on this site, and peoples home addresses. i agree the more info we have the better we will all be to prevent any more going missing.

No problem with any concerned OSF asking a sensible question about protecting their pride and joy. Whilst I am overtly aware that potential thieves are out there and will follow you home if car is on a trailer or even if you are driving your car I'm afraid these days your OSF does stand out from the Euroboxes on the road. Most people are genuinely interested, unfortunately there are the element that either go to events where they know OSF will be i.e Speed Trials/Bromley Pageant/Ford Fair - Santa Pod - Classic Ford days... Club meets at your local etc etc.... and follow you home. I know the Mitsubishi that was used in the attempted theft from my house was see in the local area 'cruising'.... pikey's are well known to send their children out on bikes (almost certainly stolen) to vet the area for potential targets.... adverts on ebay or the local paper offering parts... make the 'phone call get the address and never turn up when appointment is made... but they DO TURN UP.. NOT TO BUY.

 

What a really sad state of affairs this is when it is becoming risky to use your OSF and as I've learnt Mr Plod really isn't interested.....

 

How do you protect your car.... Tracker/Alarms/Lots of lighting whereever you live.. they are not keen on being illuminated.. CCTC - (Razor Wire, illegal but who cares) - large ferocious dog/s

 

It all costs alot of money as I'm finding out but if you want to hang onto your car and not trust in lady luck don't ever get complacent

 

To be honest I don't really care if someone doesn't believe what has happened to me, I wish it hadn't but it did and I've done something about it and I hope you all will too.

just read this, bloody disgusting that the police have treated your case this way. personally id be on to the local paper and maybe even try to get a complaint in to a higher office (does such a thing exsist?)

Well I'm not too amused by the action (or complete lack of it) the Police have taken. They constantly bleat on about how they want the public to help them, perhaps I should have rounded up the four thieves (obviously without hurting them because we wouldn't want to affect their human rights would we) so I go outside at 3am and say 'OK chaps please stand in the corner because I've 'phoned PC plod and he'll be here in a minute ...... need I say any more

As for my car it's back in one piece and I've tested at Lydden since which went well but if I had the car any closer to me at home it would be inbed with me!!! So these thieves are brazen because they know they'll probably not get caught and even if they are what would the punishment be..... community service.... 12 mos inside and out in 2 (warm bed/3 meals a day/paid/snooker etc, paid for by us!!)... it's an occupational hazard these bastards are prepared to accept and we still don't get our cars or parts back.

 

Untill the punishment fits the crime they won't stop.... cut hands off /no benefits/no free housing - no freebys at all Public humiliation - bring back the stocks - and I wouldn't be throwing rotten tomtoes, nice house brick would do the job me thinks.

 

How on earth has this once really great country of ours come to this??

Well all I can say is at least something funny has come out of this ..... customised branding.... the mind boggles with the possibilities... how to get it passed the PC brigade, got to be more effective than the electronic devices they use now - a brand is for life not just for Christmas!!

just as a thought, we have a police representative from our local force on a couple of our car clubs that relays any information to us regardless of wether its right or wrong they follow the rules....can we not have someone from a police force or a representative from Traffic Police somewhere in the country that could give up a couple of hours every day like what our one does and answer any questions answered????

 

would clear up a lot of information from anything and then give the police a good bit of thanks and good reports for actually helping the car community out for a change rather than slate us all for boy racers and polluting atmosphere and the rest of it!!

We did have a resident police man on the website helping us out and had our own "Ask The Fuzz" room for a while but unfortunately he was too busy out catching criminals to spare us the time that was needed to keep up with the requests that were made on the forum. We are thankful for him and his expertise and sadly no-one else came forward to offer their services to the forum so the room was closed and then deleted.

 

It would be much appreciated if you did not continue with your personal views on the police as it serves no purpose on here and will not get your car back unfortunately.

 

What I would suggest is like has already been said, contact your local papers and maybe local TV as well. I did this earlier in the year with thefts in the Croydon area and it helped to highlight the problem at least

Yes, I did mod the room for Ask the Fuzz, it took up a bit of time but I was happy to help. However due to some of the small minded attitudes to ppl on this forum I binned it as it was just turning into something that I didn't want to get into, you will be surprised just how much shit ppl will through at you in a p.m just cause of your job.

 

Reading through this thread, can I just say that not all old bill are the same, I get pissed off with reading about, shit police this, shit police that!!

 

If you all think we are doing such a King shit job in trying to protect the public, then maybe you could do us a favour and join up. Believe me, once you have to do my job for a few months then Im sure that some of you might realise that it's not all hiding in bushes catching ppl doing 32 in a 30 . Sometimes we actually do catch criminals, sometimes we even put them before a court.

 

Im sorry that you have had a bad time with the Police however please don't tar us all with the same brush.
