geoffersmasher Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 changed water pump on the xflow and tried to start the car and now it just turns over on the ignoition but its like it wont spark up and get running checked cables and also made sure not to touch the bottom pulley so timing should still be fine only thing i can think is the bults on the piss as the pump pulley is sitting futher in, but it has always been a bit off so it should be fine any ideas folk
countrybumpkin Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 changing the water pump on a xflow shoudnt do anything to how the engine runs, the only things i can sugest is make sure you havn't pulled any wires off
Deano1351 Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 Touching the bottom pulley wont affect the timing coz the x-flow got a fixed timing chain, sounds like a wires come off somewhere if it was ok before, just check all wires around the dizzy and coil, (it has got fuel hasnt it?? )
w p e Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 geoff put the low tention wire back on the coil youve knocked of
72mk1escort Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 I done this have you taken the distributer cap off as you may have some water in there from where you changed the waterpump as water goes everywhere when you pull the bottom hose off Probably just moisture in the cap
caprinerd Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 are you getting spark at the points, is the rotor arm clean, are the coil leads on firmly, is there power in the coil ,is there power out the coil, it could be a number of things just check through the old skool way. condenser might have gone up the swanny buy a new set of points and a condenser make sure the dizzy cap and the rotor arm are in good condition, are you getting petrol through, with out working on it for you its hard to put a finger on what it could be
lotusless Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 are you sure you have petrol in it you could always call ratman
