emu Posted November 4, 2008 Report Posted November 4, 2008 Antz, all girls love a bloke with a bike I have renewed my search now Amy has her scooter. I havent ridden one for ten years, but bravely, I took it up the road and it was a right giggle. I dont know where all the old ones have gone though I found a little vision over in Portsmouth a couple of weeks back, but by the time We phoned, it had been sold. I want one for the same reason now...Chav-baiting! The Escort stands out too much so I need to go undercover
V8ian Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Hmmm, I'm putting my anorak on as well and my neck on the line. Tracing old railway lines. I'm a nightmare for disappearing off down lanes in the van following the old branch lines. Particular fave is the lynton and barnstaple railway over dartmoor... And now on google earth I found you can trace them really clearly, if you know what ya looking for! As for picking up litter, I spend my ife doing that on my residential estates I look after. I like cooking as well, since I've had my sense of smell back I have rediscovered the joys of cooking good food. Oh and wine drinking while cooking... Funny thing is I don't really like the eating bit, just find the cooking therapeutic... Thats enough for me. Not so much tracing old railways, but South london engineering feats and facts and history, which does sort of cover disused railways and stations, One thing that I cant find out much about was the Forerunner to Brunells pneumatic passenger railway which ran from Crystal Pallace parade to somewhere in Penge, the forerunner ran from Bromley to the Arsenal, about 18" Dia thru Downham, Lewisham, Grenwich, Charlton and into the Arsenal suposidly for parcels for the arsenal,
Smudger105e Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 Like Daggle, I have an interest in WW2 history, although I hated history at school, got unclassified at O level! I like looking though the AAIB website at aircraft accidents, large and small. I have an interest in railways too, RAIB is a good site, and I am interested in cause and prevention of railway accidents.
