Stripping my carb down today which i thought was a 38 dgas i found these markings on it 40 dfa 2 with 28 marked on the choke chambers , i also have a spare carb on my new engine with the markings 40 dfi 5 and 32 marked on the choke chambers , does anyone know more about these carbs and which one would be better to fuel my rebuilt stage 3 essex

in my opinion, the 40dfi 5 is the best carb for a tuned v6.(other than triple webers of course!!) i`m pretty sure these were used on the circuit racing capri`s. i changed from a holley 390 to 1 of these and the difference was phenominal!! (and used a K&N filter).

thanks for that  , wish i could fit triples on it but as its in a 100e i don't have the room

Just pop them in the boot - this way you can tell everyone you have them and the MPG will still be acceptable

No charge.

This is what I have read several times from different sources,

"For the Capri, they homologated the Weber 40 DF15, quite good for racing but no good on the road, as they don't have a power value and give a very rich partial throttle running - washing your bores out quickly"

I have copied and pasted the above from Essexengines.com.
