Must of hit us at 40 to 50MPH we were just about at a stand still. Good news everyone was ok even the baby. I banged my head cos i was leaning forward playing with the trip. head hit the seat. My dad got a stif neck now. I Got abit of a bad hand from after getting out the car and punching the bonnet with my anger We got the car home in the garage had a good luck round it. Think it will fix. But in 2weeks for the rally? Soon find out gunna give it a good go. Whish us luck!!!! we will need it Some pics.. All that time and money Just spent £400 on struts and £200 on tyres for the event this week Thank Fook We Were Not In The Escort!!!!!

D4N Posted November 22, 2008 Author Report Posted November 22, 2008 gutted for ya good choice of rally car though,me and my dad always reckoned they would handle well It is a good rally car. Not the quickest car but its strong, safe, Great over the bumps and jumps. Turns in very well as well. Best bit its RWD Better than rallying the escort. Not being cocky or showing off but the escort is to good to rally really.. . Atleast if you go backwards into a drystone wall we never did that.. its only £500 for a new car and swap the bits
MexDan Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 Shit Luck mate.. sorry to hear about that!! What a twat!! The Preston is a superb event.. you gotta get it sorted in time!! My uncle competed all through the 90's in MK1 Escort, was leading in 97 when the suspension came through strut plate.. had to bodge it back into place with some "borrowed" fence and limp to the end Classic times.. Good luck mate and keep us updated..

Its like a safari rally in england haha 2 year ago finished 8th was lying 3rd until broken back shocks. Then on one side no shocker Last year didnt finish back suspension again. set a few fastest times. this year got coilovers on back so should be ok. Well if we make the start!!!!

My dads got a stiff neck. Not stoping him being under the car though!! bit cold for me
D4N Posted November 23, 2008 Author Report Posted November 23, 2008 Update Quick update now: Mate from the body shop came round this morning said it will deff fix and should take it into the body shop thursday. Got all the suspension fix today. Found that the bump has pushed the engine back and snaped a gearbox mounting. Nothing thing on the list to do!! Another mate has found a donar car for all the bits. This will mean a spare engine. if any one wants a good project for their old skool ford and be difftrent. Drop the spare 1800cc BMW Twincam in I think it would be good and very reliable with good MPG.
5hane Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 woudnt it be easyer to swapp the bits on the new car? my dad wants to do the preston next year, was going to this year but havent sorted a car

With the rally in less than 2 weeks would no way could swap all the bits in time. Should get out next year. Be aware its a car breaker!!!
5hane Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 o ok kl yh weve been told that wev got a escort that might be able to do it , and a few bmw's (but there used for drifting) my dads m8 has a ae86 rally car, but last year he crashed so isnt allowed this year

MexDan Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 The Escort will be fine on the Preston... Uncle's one lasted best part of 5, apart from the strut incident, and the diff seizing solid, and a small off into a bush, and taking out a marshalls post (watch them scatter!! ) Its all good mate, my car has done the preston with no problems.. [/img]
