gpcmatric Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 JUST GOT HOLD OF A LARGE COMPRESSOR ON GAUGE ON OUTLET GOES UP TO 150 PSI AND THEN TURNS OFF.DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT PRESSURE YOU SHOULD USE FOR AIR GUNS, AND SPRAY GUNS ETC?ALSO WHAT IS THE CFM OR HOW TO TELL?
Retro-gone. Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 to be honest i just adjust mine untill it feels right, usually full blast for blowing off and adjust pressure down untill i get a good even flow thro the gun.. i cant even read my gauge anymore its that clagged up!
V8ian Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Most air tools will run at around 100-120 psi, and most tools will have a SWP on them somewhere, Spray guns are so varied its hard to offer a diffative answer, I run my devilblis at 45psi, and seems to work reasonably well,
over_head_cam Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Your compressor should say somewhere what the CFM is. Most tools will say the same. Small compressors can deliver a high psi but it'd the amount of air they use that is crucial, so the bigger the better And PLEASE turn your caps off
Retro-gone. Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 lol at my answer compaired to the pro's
over_head_cam Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 That's me the ultimate PROstitute
john_3.0s Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 if its an old compressor make sure the pressure releif valve is free and working, better still replace it. for a the sake of a tenner its not worth the risk of the thing going up if the motor cut-off packs up. I run mine (200 odd litre) to about 150psi in the tank and regulate it down to 135 for tools or 40 ish for the gun. remember if you using a gun you will need a regulator and oil and water traps
gpcmatric Posted December 22, 2008 Author Report Posted December 22, 2008 cheers guys for answers it is an old compressor and lge it takes 2 to lift it just a couple of incs off the floor , i think its an old tyre shop jobby, it runs up to 150 psi and then turns off and when it drops too 130 psi fires up again, pressure relief valve works fine. are the compressors easy to service its a v type twin oil type? also what oil to put in?
