Retro-gone. Posted December 31, 2008 Author Report Posted December 31, 2008 yeah that pissed me rite off, ive just blasted and painted the original cast one till i can afford a new 4into1. How do you plan to solve the clash problem with the steering column? im putting the original one back on vista, to be honest ive been thinkin about it and now im not that bothered about a 4-1 manifold, i only bought that one cos it was cheap. im not sure anyone makes them to fit directly onto a mk1 capri without a lot of pissing about.
NeilT Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 looks the nuts m8 you engin and engin bay are cleanner and better turned out than the rest of my car lol

If you can weld then it's not too hard to make your own. The butchered one you have can still be used and if you get your hands on a few old exhausts that have been taken off other cars (for the bends). Then paint it with heat resistant paint or if you're not happy with your welding, lag it. The engine bay looks A1 with the work you have done to it and it would be a crying shame to put that hacked about pipework into it even if it did fit.
Retro-gone. Posted January 1, 2009 Author Report Posted January 1, 2009 back to the stock manifold it is then, i blasted and painted it in semi gloss VHT, my sons gonna make me a stainless shroud for it .
Univex Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Damn you! After seeing this I have spent half the day taking my engine bay apart in order to get something close. It looks spot on buddy, I bet you are well chuffed.

Retromotorsport Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 it would have raise a good inch or so to clear it. Rais 1/2 and lower 1/2 ..ie rotate the engine, it moves it away as well as up, its a coomon way of doing it
Retro-gone. Posted January 1, 2009 Author Report Posted January 1, 2009 thanks for tryin to help but to be honest it looks a bit pants anyway.
Retromotorsport Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Ok.. even simpler answer... raise that side of the engine .... Might get oil starvation problems if you do that. The engine angle changes oooh about 2-3 degrees, or less than the camber on some roads or the body roll of the car ........... if your worried about an angle change of 2 degrees you best not drive your car anywhere except a big warehouse and roll it around the corners with the engine off .. XE engine.. loads are in at 7 degrees..and loads are in at 0 degrees..
Fiesta Steve Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Why would you want to use that 4-1 manifold, the cast one will flow much better now the 4-1 has been 'modified'.
Retro-gone. Posted January 1, 2009 Author Report Posted January 1, 2009 point taken steve, the cast manifold is fitted and staying put
