Not for the want of trying I have finally managed to register

I did try many times in the first half of last year with a couple of email addresses but no joy, not to worry, I am on at last

I was brought up on Mexico's and Lotus Cortinas as a lad but one thing led to another and I have been a Jap car owner for the last god knows how long. Had about 7 Skylines over the last 5 years but I have now come back to my senses and found a MK1 2 door Escort to build up as a road legal track car.

It is going to be a big learning curve for me as I have never before taken on such an epic project but the basics are.

Keep it light

Keep it simple

Don't be a sheep, do some things a little different

So with that in mind the plan is

Body

Looking for 900kgs if possible so with that in mind;

Fully caged shell, fibreglass bonnet, boot, doors and wings, poly windows, heated front screen (hopefully not need a heater then), undecided arches.

Engine

I am aiming for a reliable 250hp without winning the lottery so I will be using a Jag S-type 3.0 Duratec V6, all Ali so the right weight too.

Transmission/axle

Jag S-type manual box, Dana 44 axle with positrac LSD

Suspension and brakes undecided just now

Pics to follow when I have 10 posts

welcome to the site, I like the Jag V6 diesel idea, anymore details of this?

I am using the 3.0 petrol, I do not know the exact weight yet but the engine feels no different than the 1300 crossflow which came out.

The advantages I see are reliability, good power, gearbox availability etc

I am pretty sure the V6 Diesel (2.7) is all Ali too so it would be an intereting motor to use
