Retro-gone. Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 i know this has been covered many times and i appologise to those that are muttering "not again" but i cant find the thread relating to it.. there was mention of returning the pipe back into the main fuel line with a T peice, now can i T it into the fuel feed pipe BEFORE the fuel pump? i just dont like the look of the blocked off pipe poking out, it just looks untidy and unfinished.
LEONMEX Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 did'nt think you could t into the return incase of air locks or pressure loss?? might be & am probably wrong though lol.
Retro-gone. Posted January 8, 2009 Author Report Posted January 8, 2009 im not sure you can either, im trying to find out..
Supercharged Nat Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 i wouldnt T into the feed line, especially after the pump! you could T into the fuel line before the pump but it should really be returned to the tank, or left as is. you could always put a longer piece of hose on there, take it down out of the way and then bung it again.......
Retro-gone. Posted January 8, 2009 Author Report Posted January 8, 2009 i wouldnt dream of teeing into after the fuel pump, that would be plain silly il take the latter option of extending the pipe and blocking it off
countrybumpkin Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 the other option is to remove the brass fitting from the carb and thread the hole and screw in a blanking bung
Tom Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 T it into the feed before the pump mate it doesn't hurt, i ran mine like this for years and besides it wouldn't be there if it could be just blocked off
Supercharged Nat Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 The return is there to help stop locks in the pipe work (fuel getting hot after engine shut off and then boiling in the line) the idea was that all the hot fuel would go back to the tank and cool off. it was supposed to help hot starting. im sure there were other reasons too though. but if it were me id just run the longer hose. the thing with drilling and tapping the carb outlet (removing the brass fitting) is its easy to damage the carb top, the ally is brittle. although it would look smart with a bung screwed in.
