Hi I joined over a year ago had a quick look round the forums and that was about it until now when I finally managed to remember what my login was!

I have a '66 4 door MK1 cortina 1200 deluxe which I've had since '89 it was may 2nd car and wasn't in too bad nick. I'd had it 6 months when I crashed it. I was young and stupid but couldn't scrap the car. It's been in various places getting fixed up and adding a pinto 2.0 in the process. It's been in a lock up for the last 13 years and not much happening other than maybe once a year popping to see it, sticking some jump leads on it and firing it up.

During that time I've owned a few later cortina's, a half rotten MK4 (front end was mint) a couple of MK5's including an estate with spax all round 4 branch on a 1.8 with 5 speed with pug 15's, capri twin headlights with a consul granada grill (drove damn good for an estate).

Over the christmas break I was in the process of moving the MK1 and other accumulated junk into a new garage I just had built on the house with power, lights etc. and more important room to move swing a cat!! So now I'm a lot older, not much wiser but keen to get the old MK1 on the road again. I'm treating it as a bit of a blank canvas as some of the things I'd done (such as putting granada springs in the cortina struts. Ouch!!) need to be a bit better thought out.

It has a 1600E back axle on capri single leafs and I might go a bit lower with blocks on the back end. The list of things to do are sort the front steering and suspension. I have Capri 2.8 struts with vented disks (not fitted yet) so it's either escort or capri cross member and rack? 5 speed box. And finding some way of getting servo assisted brakes (If I really need them)?

I've rabbled on a bit but hope not too much. When I started tinkering with the cortina there was no internet forums so now I should be able to tap into the wealth of information on here

Cheers

Thanks I'll do that. It's certainly made a difference moving it closer to the house. Hats off to guys that build and modify cars in lock ups!
