My mini...

...I bought a mini shell about 6 years ago and am determined to get it finished.

We've got the engine and a few other bits, but there's still a long shopping list of bits and bobs to get for it.

I do want to use it as a road car- only 1 problem.

I have no v5 or reg plate for the car.

I do however have all the plates in the engine bay. 3 plates in all (i think).

How could I apply for a v5 and get a reg for it?

Any help would be much appreciated.

if you have all the plates it shouldnt be too hard to get a v5 for it, email the dvla im sure this is something they get quite often

In the Anglia Club, our Club historian is our nominated contact with DVLA, and we have a responsibility to check the provenece (right word?) of cars that have no V5 or V5c. Anything helps, old tax discs, old MOT's, the original number plates, any other historical documents. Not sure who you would have to contact for a mini though...

 

The car below was re registered in 1988 and does not have its original number, but I could easily (and without charge) obtain the original number, because I have the old green log book, 1960's tax discs etc. Dunno if I can be bothered though...

I've tried various mini sites but they've been not very helpful.

I have no documents for the car and as i said earlier it was going to be just a track car.

I only have the plates that are in the engine bay.

I will have a word with our DVLA cobtact and see what the position is with cars with VIn plates only. no idea what the original reg number was?

cant say where i keep them cos there not particularly safe where they are i gto 2 on the drive and one in the garage atm and 6 others what bits do you need?

Engine mounts are the main thing really. Most of the other bits I need to buy new. E.g bucket seats, harnesses, angel eye lights etc etc.

get new engine mounts they do some really nice heavy duty ones which are 'quick release' as such. u can get the engine out in no time

I know this sounds dumb but... what ones would i use for my mini. Coz it's a metro engine Ive got. They're prob all the same but I'm so dippy sometimes! lol
