yeah its a bit much i do it in a land rover at the moment but i love my job would be nice to do it a capri, i like using my escort but i've spent so much time and money on it so i dont want to risk damage it where as this capri is cheap and only needs a small anount of work to get back on the road

if your journey is motorway then the mileage is actually really good as with the type 9 5 speed the 2.8 is barely ticking over cruising

failing that give me the 2.8 and by a mondano :wink:

Well Fords figures suggest that the 2.8i does 21 mpg, but, mine seems to be very good. Obviously they can drink a bit if you're a bit lead footed (like any car), but as Chris (Caprifan) say's, the 5 speed 2.8i is good on a run.

To give you some example... I bought mine in Lytham St. Anne's which is just outside Preston. I filled it up wondering how many more tanks I would need as I had to get it home to SE London. £45 filled the tank and then set off on the 267 mile trip home. How much petrol did I go through????

Half a tank, yes half. That is £22.50 for a 267 mile trip doing the speed limits :D:thumbsup:

I got 28MPG out of my 2.8i commuting on country A roads including a 1 in 6 hill so it shouldn't be much different in cost to the Landrover.
