escortwithsunroof Posted January 24, 2009 Report Posted January 24, 2009 leave it as is, just try get the biggest possible wheels under the arches with the most offset that is possible (antz) leave all the trim, the square lights and the bumpers, casue if evryone does the same thing, (not me) then no-ones is different heres a pic of mine mechaniclally standard bar a k&n and big bore to make noise at the traffic lights (how childish me and me da are ) 1600 auto, -2 inches all round, singles in the back and rally shocks

Square or round, quarters or not? - Personal preference but I would keep yours in the original colour. Bronze & Beige are most definitely sub-zero. Plus a 2 door Ghia's seem rarer than RS's. Keep it Ghia!

mk2 escy ron Posted January 24, 2009 Author Report Posted January 24, 2009 right, this is what i am thinking: ghia strip removed, keep vinyl roof and square head lights, mex spoiler, resprayed silver, quarter bumpers, lowered, set of 7 x 13 black and polished revo's, bullet style mirrors, square front number plate (black and silver until i get caught) all finished of with COSSIE power so what do ya think?
petrolhead Posted January 24, 2009 Report Posted January 24, 2009 Yes I am the owner, thank you for the kind comments. Mine has got a bit of a Jekyl & Hyde flavour going on intentionally. From behind it looks all standard but it is badged up as a 1.1 Ghia Automatic (which they never made!) - this always gives the 'Max Plastic' a false sense of security at the lights but from the front the true purpose becomes clear - a rapid old skool street screamer. If your going to have a Cosworth under the bonnet why not create a true sleeper. I would keep everything standard, lower it 2" and get the steelies banded to 7.5" with the chrome trim and lower profile tyres. Get quarter bumpers (will allow extra cooling) but maybe get them chromed in ghia stlye. That would be discreet, sleeper and different - which is a hard thing to do on the OSF scene. Just a few ideas. Like Antz says the colour will grow on you!

mk2 escy ron Posted January 24, 2009 Author Report Posted January 24, 2009 love it 1.1 automatic some good ideas though feel cheeky steeling them. i want to put a louvre on the bonnet above where the turbo will be to allow direct air flow. like the idea of chromed quarter bumpers the one thing i am struggling with is the colour! dont want anything loud saying 'look at me' and always liked silver cos my dad used to have 1. but really am hating the gold so think that if i done all the work, had it all blown over in gold and put it all back 2gether, there is a strong chance i still wouldn't like it! so i would then have to strip it all down get respray and then build again which would be a waste of time and money.

Have you seen this Mk2? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=W2hBEGa-RBI Just goes to show they don't need front or rear spoilers to look good. 7" revos are a good choice and old skool lourves done properly will also look great.

285Andy Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 personally id keep the side trims and vinyl roof. id have to change the colour but id choose maybe another Ghia colour to keep the flavour. lights are lights in my book so i wouldnt change em unless there fooked and unavailable new. would love to see a set of DD revo's on it end of the day, its not my car so its down to you chap! it'll be a good car when done
