Retro-gone. Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 is the bit of the protruding rubber bump stop supposed to fit in the hole in the lowereing block? mine doesnt , the bump stop is far too big for the hole
Dalek Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Remove the rubber bit m8 then fit the blocks.
ChristophStone Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 How much are you lowering it by mate? get some pics up when it's done!
Retro-gone. Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 Remove the rubber bit m8 then fit the blocks.remove the rubber? is that practical? it must be there for a reason, saying that if your method is safe im up for it!
Retro-gone. Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 How much are you lowering it by mate? get some pics up when it's done! just coming down an inch to match up with the coilovers at front.
Anglia68 Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Like Dalek says, just throw the rubber away and then fit the blocks. It's only there as an insulator against road noise but tbh you won't notice any difference with it removed.
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 that pic there take the whole bracket off which has the rubber in it knock it off with a hammer then there must be a nipple or bolt through the spring which will sit in the lowering block put the rubber on the top of your block then into the axel
Retro-gone. Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 erm... what done it now anyway dave, i cut the rubber down , on the other side i had to make a bush (out of copper pipe and pushbike hanlebar)as the locating peg was too small for the locating hole, its a snug fit now before.... and after...
Retro-gone. Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 cheers dave, might even have to go another inch when i get the 60 profile tyres on, altho you know the problems with speedbumps up my street dont ya
Retro-gone. Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 its about an inch lower all round now.
ChristophStone Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Can't argue with that mate, it looks f*cking amazing
Chris! Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Tonnyyyyyyy dont change your tyres, that looks perfect
vibrating_Cake Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 the tyres do look a little bit on the large side now its lowered.....
vibrating_Cake Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 and you have... CARPET... in your workshop..... and its CLEAN... im jealous!
bigglesmk2 Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Do ya know what Tony....... ......i really like your car
Retro-gone. Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 ive got to change the tyres as these wont last the season out.. im dropping from 185 70's to 185 60's. cant go wider than 185's by the way, not on a mk1.
ChristophStone Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Cooper do their cobra tyres in 175/70/13 if you wanted to keep the white lettered look. Bit tall and thin but I haven't found any others currently on the market that aren't 205/60/13. Bit ghey really, because I really want white letters for mine whe I get it.
Retro-gone. Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 you cn buy stick on tyre letters and stick on whitewall rims chris.. biggles , ta mate,
ChristophStone Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Do they look any good though? I know you can get pens that do them too but I always assumed actual raised white letters would look better and the stick on ones or the pens would look a bit naff.
Retro-gone. Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 my letters arnt raised, they are set into the tyres, they were white origially but they go yellow so i redo mine every coupla months with white pen.
Retro-gone. Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 have a scout round here chris..http://www.northhantstyres.com/ oh but before you do bare this in mind, i cant wait to get shut of the white lettering, as carefull as i am somtimes you just cant help scrubbing the kerb which just destroys the white lettering and makes the tyre look awfull, itl be even worse with raised letters! mark my words mate.
caprinerd Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 i think the white letters give it more of the 70`s feel mate ok i know what your saying about scrubbing but thats part and parcle of white letters and walls
Retro-gone. Posted January 26, 2009 Author Report Posted January 26, 2009 yeah your right but ive had enough of it, pisses me right off when it happens, have to rush home, clean smudged white paint off with thinners and start again lol
