quickrack Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Do they fit straight to an escort or do you need a 105e axle and HOW MUCH?
escortmad79 Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 They fit but stick out a bit (especially the 7.5s). There was a red & silver Mk1 in one of the mags (Performance Ford I think) with them a while back, stick out about an inch, maybe a grey area when it comes to MOT time. May need to trim the arch lips too
Retromotorsport Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 As this question comes up maybe twice a week ... can someone clever get some pics of different wheels and axles and stick them in a thread that can then be stuck ????? If you want to go 7... 7 1/2 wide get an anglia axle and some spacers ... if your using standard offset Ford wheels If your using non standard wheels get 8 1/2's at the right offset
4parajon Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 they usually fetch about £450 - £550 depending on condition etc, hope this helps
Admin Vista Posted December 8, 2006 Admin Report Posted December 8, 2006 I tried a set on my unarched Mk1, it just looked daft with those skinny profile tyres and would certainly have rubbed when bolted onto my English Axle. I had some pics somewhere, I'll see if I can find them.................. here you go
quickrack Posted December 8, 2006 Author Report Posted December 8, 2006 Cheers Vista. Thats done for that idea
flyingbanana Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 vista do you know the name/colour code of the orange?...i like it and might change my mini to that colour....your motor looks well smart
Admin Vista Posted December 8, 2006 Admin Report Posted December 8, 2006 lol yep Vista orange, best colour for a Mk1 IMHO but I guess I'm biased
Retromotorsport Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 Cheers Dave. Thats ok Trigger ... if the Dave was aimed at me
you'll get 10s on that Posted December 11, 2006 Report Posted December 11, 2006 Hi Guys....Anglia saloon axle is 4" narrower than a std English axle and an Anglia Van is only 2" narrower than the Escort. Looking at the photos the van axle will sort your problem...just need to find one.
quickrack Posted December 12, 2006 Author Report Posted December 12, 2006 OKAY. but what about the front?
you'll get 10s on that Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 take a look again at the (lovely) vista orange with them on...its shows front as well........very max.
Admin Vista Posted December 14, 2006 Admin Report Posted December 14, 2006 take a look again at the (lovely) vista orange with them on...its shows front as well........very max. All compliments gratefully received However I think he was asking what he could do to get them to fit on the front. Well I didn't actually drive mine with them on, they were for sale near me so I thought I'd trial fit them to see what they looked like. It was fairly obvious that they would have rubbed badly, and they really didn't look right with those tyres on anyway. So the anglia axle may sort it out for you to fit them at the back, but I don't know of any other way of getting them on them on the front than fitting bubble arches. And if you're gonna do that then you've got to do all four arches (two would just look ) and that would mean you could fit them with a standard escort axle anyway. Over to you Retro......................
you'll get 10s on that Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 quite right Mr Vista.....Bubble on front only yuck!!! Broadspeed did run some cars with bubblearches rear and standard front arches(non mexico) and that looks weird enough!!!!!
Retromotorsport Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Move the top mounts in 12mm and shorten the TCA's and steering track rod arms by the same amount ........ downside ... you'll get a bit more camber change through the suspensions movement .. thats all
Retromotorsport Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 quite right Mr Vista.....Bubble on front only yuck!!! Broadspeed did run some cars with bubblearches rear and standard front arches(non mexico) and that looks weird enough!!!!! Thought it was the other way round .. the 1300's with the wishbone front ends
Morley Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Would using eccentric top mounts have the same effect?
Retromotorsport Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 Would using eccentric top mounts have the same effect? yes and no... its best to move everything as standard ...then use the aftermarket stuff to adjust the geometry in the same way as you would with a normall set up
escortmad79 Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 quite right Mr Vista.....Bubble on front only yuck!!! Broadspeed did run some cars with bubblearches rear and standard front arches(non mexico) and that looks weird enough!!!!! Broadspeed 1300 GTs ran Bubbled fronts & standard rears
