You need some nice 15" wheels with Contenantal tyres! :lol: seriously though, I had the Corty 5 linked with panhard rod and coilovers, done for the strip mostly to stop the axle tramp, but it makes a huge difference to the road handling as well...

vibrating cake, why cant the xlink be fitted to a escort? ive never seen one on one, and i dont see why? cant the bits on capri's be fitted to escort's?

 

and why cant you go lower than 1inch ?

as a quick guess the axle isnt wide enough on an escort and over an inch the kit is too twisted to fit and secure properly. :wink:

and lower than 1" the bar has to be bent and its not designed to be bent (trust me they are strong) and also it fouls up against things like rear arb etc (apparently)

i dont have single leafs dave.

 

Then get some mate.

 

We all know that R888's would give you a huge improvement but you want to keep the look you have so 1st things 1st mate. Single leafs coupled with X Frame, followed by decent rear shocks is the way to go. After that you're into 4/5 linking etc which is not an option on such a lovely car :thumbsup:

hold up i have multi leaf rear end and a location kit on my laser ive been driving with it on there for the past 4 years and its lowered by 2" all round all i did was to get some high tensil bolts to replace the shorter ones that come with the kit to go over the springs and it works for me just make sure you tighten them right up and evenly as you do them

It does indeed work as you say BUT i have seen springs snap with this set up & wouldn't dare do it myself.

Tony mate I just put down on a deposit on a capri similar to yours, daytona yellow, black vinyl roof, but it's on modern alloys at the moment. Pics are over on capripower.co.uk in the for sale section if you want to see what yours might look like on 15's.

Here is my "A" frame set up. The springs are decambered by 2" which does away with the need for blocks. So the frame sits nice and level.

 

Fully poly bushed with braided brake hoses and Spax adjustable shocks and a 2.8 (14mm thick) rear roll bar

Whats wrong with capri Power? did they upset you somehow? :( I have found it geenerally friendly enough. Lots of good info too.
