deltamal Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 You need some nice 15" wheels with Contenantal tyres! seriously though, I had the Corty 5 linked with panhard rod and coilovers, done for the strip mostly to stop the axle tramp, but it makes a huge difference to the road handling as well...
5hane Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 vibrating cake, why cant the xlink be fitted to a escort? ive never seen one on one, and i dont see why? cant the bits on capri's be fitted to escort's? and why cant you go lower than 1inch ? cheers
bomber1 Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 vibrating cake, why cant the xlink be fitted to a escort? ive never seen one on one, and i dont see why? cant the bits on capri's be fitted to escort's? and why cant you go lower than 1inch ? cheers as a quick guess the axle isnt wide enough on an escort and over an inch the kit is too twisted to fit and secure properly.
Retro-gone. Posted February 4, 2009 Author Report Posted February 4, 2009 its all getting really complicated for me now

SmokeEm Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 its all getting really complicated for me now trust me Tony, if you have single leafs - fit x frame - period
Retro-gone. Posted February 4, 2009 Author Report Posted February 4, 2009 i dont have single leafs dave.
SmokeEm Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 i dont have single leafs dave. Then get some mate. We all know that R888's would give you a huge improvement but you want to keep the look you have so 1st things 1st mate. Single leafs coupled with X Frame, followed by decent rear shocks is the way to go. After that you're into 4/5 linking etc which is not an option on such a lovely car
Retro-gone. Posted February 4, 2009 Author Report Posted February 4, 2009 i havent got a fookin clue what your talking about except the 'rear shocks' bit.
SmokeEm Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 i havent got a fookin clue what your talking about except the 'rear shocks' bit. Then give me a call during the day you pillock! That way you'll get proper advice without the influence of

caprinerd Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 hold up i have multi leaf rear end and a location kit on my laser ive been driving with it on there for the past 4 years and its lowered by 2" all round all i did was to get some high tensil bolts to replace the shorter ones that come with the kit to go over the springs and it works for me just make sure you tighten them right up and evenly as you do them

stevepeanut Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 I'm another one who says 13s all the way, thats oldskool cool, plus your wheels look real good anyway
Retro-gone. Posted February 5, 2009 Author Report Posted February 5, 2009 ya see its people like you that stop me from doing things to my car
ChristophStone Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 Tony mate I just put down on a deposit on a capri similar to yours, daytona yellow, black vinyl roof, but it's on modern alloys at the moment. Pics are over on capripower.co.uk in the for sale section if you want to see what yours might look like on 15's.
Retro-gone. Posted February 6, 2009 Author Report Posted February 6, 2009 i dont go on capri power chris, used to but dont and wont now. can you send me the pics?
danny69 Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 Here is my "A" frame set up. The springs are decambered by 2" which does away with the need for blocks. So the frame sits nice and level. Fully poly bushed with braided brake hoses and Spax adjustable shocks and a 2.8 (14mm thick) rear roll bar Oh and retro Firestone 205 60 balloons Whats wrong with capri Power? did they upset you somehow? I have found it geenerally friendly enough. Lots of good info too.
caprinerd Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 think someones nicked the rest of the car
danny69 Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 think someones nicked the rest of the car No its still there! I just photoshopped it out
