MexDan Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 Hi Guys and Gals Can anyone recommend a decent electric sander for rubbing down paintwork??... I can really be arsed to do it by hand... Also what grit would you use.. I've been told a few different ones.. where would be the best place to get it from?? Unless you can get an attachment for a grinder??? Cheers!!!
Fiesta Steve Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 You need a DA sander, they orbit around as they spin, if you know what I mean. A grinder is no good as they only spin and will fook up the existing paintwork, I tried that years ago when my DA broke !! 320 grit will probably be ok in a DA if you are primering over the top Sorry, can't recommend an electric sander as I only use air tools.
bangar Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 i got an electric da, got it from BandQ, its a Mac Allistar. Takes the larger discs same as bodyshops. You can vary the speed to. Its never let me down, i used it for the whole car when i did a respray.
dannyb Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 i have just got an electric DA to use at home, it's made by a firm called RUPES and is just as good as my air powerd DA's although it is a little on the chunky side. not sure how much they cost as mine fell off the back of a lorry.
