Guest irpacaus Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Hi Guys, I am new to the forum but have been lurking around for a while. Curently i am in the process of building a Mk1 capri. Unfortunately it is in Oz and I am in the UK so it is a slow process until I move back to Oz permanently. Currently I have to slum it in a 200 Stype jag but at least it is a v8. This is my 5th or 6th Capri. My first one was stolen whilst I was at university and the others I was made to sell by an ex girlfriend. Although my current parnter (Wife)e on the other hand had a tear in her eye when she heard my current capri start for the first time, although it could ahve been emotion it was probably more likely unburnt fuel buring her eyeballs. But basically the car currently goes like this. Mk1 Capri, 5.0l SBF stroked to 5.8 litres, fuel injected, 6speed tremec T56 gearbox, power steering, airconditioning, power windows, 5 stud conversion, ford 9inch rear, 90 litre aluminum fuel tank where spare tyre tub once was. Hopefully the only tell tail signs that the car is not original will be the fuel tank and the wheels. Trying to keep teh stock look as much as possible. What I would like to do is fit 17in rims and run 235/40/17 tyres all round. I know this will require some wheel arch manipulation on teh rear and the front with it likely to get some metal work doen to flare the arches. This is to allow me to run some 330mm front disks with Brembo 4 pot caplipers and some nice 300mm on the rear. The aim is somewhere in teh region of 400 to 450 hp. David
PlopPlop Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Welcome to OSF mate Sounds like those 17s will melt in minutes with that sort of motor
Guest irpacaus Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Thanks for the welcome. I think the cost of keep fuel up to it might be a bigger problem in teh long run. I don't think my 90litre tank will last long.
