trickyturbo Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 how much do you think my shell is worth, its had new sills, arches, floors, mexico wings and strut tops none of wich have been done perfect but it is solid and looks good untill you start looking hard reason i am asking is i am thinking of taking my interior and running gear out as that is all fine and selling what is left over, like loom, doors, boot, bonnet, lights, wipers ect,ect with the shell and buying one thats not had a lot of welding and doing it all my self cheers
trickyturbo Posted September 14, 2006 Author Report Posted September 14, 2006 i think this will make it bigger that may help
BIGKEV Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 Tis Nice - keep the shell - when you sell it and are on your knees swearing at the welder you will wish you hadnt sold it
trickyturbo Posted September 14, 2006 Author Report Posted September 14, 2006 Tis Nice - keep the shell - when you sell it and are on your knees swearing at the welder you will wish you hadnt sold it talking from experience then, lol but i had a look at colin baileys mex at ford fair i think and i want one that clean, but i cant keep both as i dont have enough space for both
BIGKEV Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 Yes mate http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... php?t=3884 what do you want to do with your car anyway - drive it like you stole it or trailer it to shows like the baileymex
trickyturbo Posted September 14, 2006 Author Report Posted September 14, 2006 well i want to rag the shit out of it really but i dont want to show it to people who have not got a clue and the point out things like "thats a rust bubble" and "HOW MUCH, you could of bought a new car for that" thats what really pisses meoff sometimes but they dont know do they
BIGKEV Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 fook those people mate - do you really care what those tossers say? Keep the shell - have fun in it cos the people that say that stuff only have them as ornaments in their carpeted garages anyway - osf were meant to be driven and driven hard - I much prefer to see a battle scarred car than a museum peice! if you drive it hard for a couple of years you might need to do some welding which means you can now weld up your own shell and you have saved a packet not buying a new shell !!
trickyturbo Posted September 14, 2006 Author Report Posted September 14, 2006 i think you may have changed my mind for me
BIGKEV Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 good to hear it your wallet nearly went into cardiac arrest for a second there
trickyturbo Posted September 14, 2006 Author Report Posted September 14, 2006 good to hear it your wallet nearly went into cardiac arrest for a second there lol cheers mate
Cookie Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 Kev is spot on there with his advice mate, whatever people say i rarely believe it when folk claim there 30 year old ford has NEVER been welded, unless its a 20k miles £20k never seen rain minter they are either lying or been led to believe that is the case by a lying seller. Even when a car appears to have never been welded it probobly has, its not a difficult job to make welds invisible just time consuming thats all, and with your shell even if its not pretty welding at least you know its been done where as you buy a so called 'MINT@ shell and as soon as the mot screwdriver has had a poke its not mint anymore stick with it mate, because at the end of the day if you are bothered about the apperance you can get on it with a grinder and good supply of flap discs and smooth them right off and make them dissapear.
trickyturbo Posted September 14, 2006 Author Report Posted September 14, 2006 yeah maybe i will just clean up the welds that are there and smooth in the rear arches a bit better and it will almost perfect cheers guys
