Retro-gone. Posted April 20, 2009 Author Report Posted April 20, 2009 ok cheers guys, so what would my old 1600 pinto have produced? it had the single skinny carb on..
bortaf Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 About 70 if it was the standard 1.6 not the GT
Retro-gone. Posted April 20, 2009 Author Report Posted April 20, 2009 wow quite a difference then cant believe the difference in power, something i should of done years ago
SmokeEm Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Power is nice Tony but the extra Torque is what you 'feel' Power sells engines, Torque win's races
Copey Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Power is nice Tony but the extra Torque is what you 'feel' Power sells engines, Torque win's races Power for the pub, Torque for the track!
Retro-gone. Posted April 20, 2009 Author Report Posted April 20, 2009 yeah it is really torquey, the 1600 used to struggle up severe hills but the 2.0 pisses em best thing i ever did.

bigdaz27 Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 yeah it is really torquey, the 1600 used to struggle up severe hills but the 2.0 pisses em best thing i ever did. now what you do when you are givin the capper its resto is bore it out to take 2.8i pistons you dont need to use 2.8 pistons you can get 93mm ohc pinto pistons you dont need to get the head decked and can use standard head bolts and yes that makes it 2.1
SmokeEm Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Agree ^^ however you'd be a mug to not have the block decked. Once done you could work out the CR so you'd know how much to skim the head. Pinto's need LOADS of compression to make decent power
Retro-gone. Posted April 20, 2009 Author Report Posted April 20, 2009 hmm, i dont want to get too far into the 'more power' thing, ive got a perfect tickover and the cars quick enough to be honest.
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 your old 1.6 will have been about 70bhp your 2.0 will be about 105 bhp you need to get the head ported and either bike carbs or twin carbs that will up your bhp
