I don't understand ..... I get shite through the door all the time :? If your name is on the electoral role then it can be viewed by 1000's of companies and individuals :( Or is that not what you mean?

You can sign up to this service and it cuts it down quite dramatically

I usually stick them back in the post box with "return to sender, no longer at this address" plastered on them because that way they pay for the return postage

We used to get sales calls and letters for a specific name on a regular basis at home. This was a new house and we are the only owners/occupiers. They had our address and phone number but not the correct name. We eventually resorted to asking for the name of the Company who was 'phoning, and saying that if they ring again, I will be charging them for my time and inconvenience to the tune of £10 per call. The calls dried up pretty quickly!

Now THAT'S not good! being on the electorial roll is a key thing for a credit score. If I were you, I would check my credit record, somebody may be trying to get credit at your address. Have a look online, there's a company called Experion I think that will check it for you, if nothing else maybe you should contact the police.

Yep get it checked out. Experian and Equifax are the two main credit agencies.......You can write off with a cheque for £2. The link on this page called "official credit checking system" on this site....

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/credit-rating-credit-score#check

Or if you wanna check it out in a hurry.....

Check out (also form the same page)

Experian’s Credit Expert.

Details: Credit Expert* offers a ‘free 30 day trial then £6.99 per month' service which includes your credit report, so if you want your credit reference file just sign up and cancel this. Don’t confuse it with the Credit Score service which costs a one off £5.95.

How to cancel: It makes it very easy, just call the free-phone number 0800 656 9000

Equifax’s Credit Watch Gold.

Details: Credit Watch Gold* has two options, one at £7.50 a month, but the one you need to choose is the ‘Free for 30 days and then £69.99 for the year'. When you sign up a payment card will need to be authorised but the £1 fee is not actually charged to your card if you cancel in time.

How to cancel: To request cancellation call 0870 0100583 and quote your account reference.

MAKE SURE YOU CANCEL THE SERVICES ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR REPORT or you'll get stung for their over inflated fee.

We keep getting spam phonecalls all through the day!

Record so far was 3 calls in the space of an hour & a half! Couldn't complain or tell them to fook off as they were all automated messages!

Have you joined the Telephone Preference Service? That stops most of the nuisance calls.

http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/

Its free, and can be done on line.

The front page says...

The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is the central opt out register on which you can record your preference not to receive unsolicited sales and marketing telephone calls to your home or mobile telephone numbers. It is a legal requirement that all organisations (including charities, voluntary organisations and political parties) do not make such calls to numbers registered on the TPS unless they have your consent to do so.

Organisations with which you have an ongoing relationship, for example those who regard you as a customer, (or in the case of charities - a donor) may well gather your consent during the early stages of your relationship with them and will therefore be entitled to call you even if your number is registered on TPS, unless you have previously told them specifically that you object to them calling you for marketing purposes.

The TPS can accept the registration of mobile telephone numbers, however it is important to note that this will prevent the receipt of marketing voice calls but not SMS (text) messages. If you wish to stop receiving SMS marketing messages, please send an 'opt-out' request to the company involved.

As TPS registration only prevents marketing calls, organisations will still be able to call you for the purposes of genuine market research.
