im running a 2.8i capri with a turbo technics kit fitted.

up until recently the car was running fine. but now im having problems starting the car when it is hot, but the main problem is the engine is pressurising the sump and is blowing oil/smoke out of the dip stitk and fillercap.

please help im desperate!!!!!!!!!!!

....honestly, not sure on that one mate.....have you asked on the laser page as there are a few TT boys on there ?

replies so far mate :

common problem on these im afraid.......loads are like it (inc mine)....peeps get round it by installing a catch tank.....possible causes to check first are ...... breather valve installed wrong....

piston has a tiny hole in it....

rings are fooked....

So obviously you do compression check 1st....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

not had this problem with mine, but as TCK says, the breather system needs to be checked, and compression and cylinder leakage tests done.

I have seen TT Capris running perfectly happy even without the breather system fitted, so make of that what you will.. the TT will always show up engine wear more than a standard engine due to the nature of the beast.

o.k did the compression test and the psi was about 120-130 i have been told it should be around 150-160. i can under stand one piston being low but not all six. i did the valve clearnces about 3 weeks ago so im thinking they should be right ( famous last words  ) if anybody can me with this one i would be very greatfull and i will buy you a cup of tea at the next boxhill meet.

...ok mate some more replies for you after I posted about the comp test....

next check its not pressurising through the drivers side rocker cover..fit a small free flow filter into this and block the breather pipe off that you remove (simply kink the hose and wire it).

What boost pressure is it running?
