surrey_100e Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 Just got round to fitting my brake pads and im lost as how to fit anti rattle brake pins? Any advice Many thanks Martin
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 i thought they were just shims that sat between the pad and piston on those calipers
flyingbanana Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 if you look at the caliper you will see 2 small holes on the side one top and one bottom hole (brake pad side).....what you need to do is align the pads and skims then insert one pin in the top hole and through skims and pads until it wont go any further then insert the clip on the other side of the pin(small hole in the pin for this) so it dont come out.....then align bottom holes up and insert the other pin and clip.....if you get a pair of pliers you will be able to pull or push the pads for the holes to allign to make it easier to insert the pins
surrey_100e Posted May 1, 2009 Author Report Posted May 1, 2009 yeah iv put them in, the thing i dont know how to put in basically looks like a bit of wire with a few twists and kinks in it,
flyingbanana Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 you can get away without putting those in.....they tend not to fit correctly anyway.....but if u want to fit them you need to get the pin to go through them at the same time when inserting the pins through the pads ....you should have two springs....one for the top part and one for the bottom
surrey_100e Posted May 1, 2009 Author Report Posted May 1, 2009 great cheers, yeah they look as if they dont want to fit, il guess il leave them out
bortaf Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 One pin goes through the spring at the big bend tother through the 2 ends, i can get a pic later if you want? i have severl sets of M16s down the garage and shims/springs i can assemble to show ya?
