fostersice Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 how hard is it to fit a cosworth v6 24v engine to i escort mk2 rs2000 anyone done this any input would be good
JP. Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 Here in Holland there's one running an Eaton M90 on top. Its the same amount of work putting a 2.8Injector in it. If Ford could put an Essex in the mk1 you shure can put an 24V in amk2.
andypipe Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 You wouldnt believe the work involved in putting a TT24v in and ecort. We gave up and the whole project was canned
hellblue Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 Its the same amount of work putting a 2.8Injector in it. I think not ! The 24v is not far off the width of the escorts inner wings but yes it can be done cos it WILL fit, all be it with a LOT of work, I would'nt even think of keeping the bulkhead if i was of doing it tho, as for turbo's !! thats room to be found for turbo's, intercoolers & all the plumbing !! .... what about a vortech supercharger instead ??
4parajon Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 Thre was a white arched mk2 with one up here built by a guy called Kurt but he apparently has sold it, not seen it about for a while. Sure it's been in one of the mags tho.
capriaddict Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 I spotted this Mk2 escort at the side of the road the other day. I stopped to see if the 2 young lads with it needed a hand, turned out the car had only just been put on the road and they were testing/mapping it on the way to Werrington hill climb where they were competing in it. This is what was under the bonnet......... As said it does fit but to add twin turbos would require alot of work to make enough space for them.
hellblue Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 You still got your granada then Andy ??? (want to sell it to me ??)
kevmk2 Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 Definately alot of hard work to fit in an escort, much easier in a capri. Most 4 cylinder engines fit in escorts pretty easily. I remember that what mk2 with the 24v lump in it, very tight install and didnt go that well from what i remember.
capriaddict Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 You still got your granada then Andy ??? (want to sell it to me ??) Yea still got it and its doing great service as my everyday/tow car
fostersice Posted May 13, 2009 Author Report Posted May 13, 2009 to have a rebuilt 24v v6 cosworth suplyed and fitted on carbs giving 245bhp £4000
