stevepeanut Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 could it be done? old skool fords own magazine? on the news stands like one of the regular monthly mags? I bet it could, and be better than retro or classic ford too
HondaRS2000 Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 What would be the difference between old skool ford magazine and the classic ford magazine then?
Dr Feelgood Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 you could get members off the board to contribute? do original features that mimic some of the threads, create a few pages for osf merchandise to promote the site and reach a bigger market etc
garyv6100e Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 Didn't one of the site founders / early member (Ben) set up a magazine and look at the hassle that got him and people still slate that magazine because of the fallout it created , personally i think both Retro and Classic ford are great mags with a good split between modified cars and standard cars Do you think there is room in the market place for a 3rd magazine ?? do you think that OSF would continue to get the support that Retro and Classic ford give the site if we was in direct competion with them ?? May be we could have a Bi-monthly "club" news letter / mag (10-20 pages) for subsribers only that could feature members cars club news meets etc
Retro-gone. Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 do you actually know whats involved in writing, producing, editing, printing and distributing a magazine? ive been involved before in a classic bike club bi-monthly mag and il tell you what for those involved its a full time unpaid unthanked job. You just get one mag distibuted and the next day you start work on the next issue!
2.8i Cossie Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 plus you have sponsers on the site and would be running into direct competition with them
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 Whats the point in having a printed magazine? How about a web based mag?
stevepeanut Posted May 10, 2009 Author Report Posted May 10, 2009 Whats the point in having a printed magazine? How about a web based mag? yeah that could work
zetecmk2 Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 do you need a web based osf mag? just look at the site, you can see peoples cars on here!!! and read things!!! simple really!!
over_head_cam Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 do you need a web based osf mag? just look at the site, you can see peoples cars on here!!! and read things!!! simple really!!
johnny_h Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 Magazines are a dying breed, we see on the internet stuff that is in the mags often before they are printed. Even the internet forum concept is dying.
lotusless Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 do you need a web based osf mag? just look at the site, you can see peoples cars on here!!! and read things!!! simple really!! totally agree m8
5hane Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 Whats the point in having a printed magazine? How about a web based mag? yeah that could work heres an example for ya http://www.wreckedmagazine.com/ but tbh, i think the forum is like one big magasine lots of interesting threads to read up on
SebringRS Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 Sounds a good idea, it would kinda be like the NSRA magazine, but not only just for members
Admin Mk2Jo Posted May 14, 2009 Admin Report Posted May 14, 2009 Didn't one of the site founders / early member (Ben) set up a magazine and look at the hassle that got him and people still slate that magazine No, he didn't set up any magazine. As for the grief he gets ... unfortunately it goes with the job and at least he gets paid to do the job ..... the mag is still going so he must be doing something right As for another paper publication - I don't think there is room for one.
caprinerd Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 its not as straight forward as people think running or even just contributing to a news letter/mag tony hit the nail on the head
