how to get it to stay on ie not flake off after a couple of weeks

I'd guess you should take the chrome back as rough as you can so the paint has something to stick to

The only proper way is to have it stripped off mate. If you can't afford that, use a coarse sanding sheet on a drill or grinder to sctratch it up as best you can before etch priming and then top coat

my rear bumper was chrome, just grind it down so its rough and spray it like anythin else

QUick key with harsh paper then a bit finer - then Spray - if its black you can alsways recoat if you want to

They did, there was a nos one on ebay last week, it didnt sell at 99p

i got mk4 bumpers on my mk5 and since the cortina is all red and black thought the bumpers should be black too

Seems a shame to waste a good part that somebody might want if you can get black ones. Probably less trouble to buy them and fit them anyway.
