slimrs Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 ive changed the oil about 15 times in the capri and still have really low oil pressure. it used to only be when it was warm but now its low when you start it. im using mobil one 15w50 at the minute. many thanks in advance
Takeshi Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 Have you checked the pressure with a proper, external guage?
slimrs Posted June 20, 2009 Author Report Posted June 20, 2009 no i havent mate, but it used to be fine. it used to sit at halfway but it only needed to get a little bit warm and it would drop. i did try some mineral oil which was a lot thicker and the pressure was better but it seemed to slow the engine down alot
Admin Vista Posted June 20, 2009 Admin Report Posted June 20, 2009 If your oil pressure has been dropping off over a period of time, it's usually a sign of either a worn / defective pump or worn crank bearings giving excess clearances that the oil must try and make up for.
