Etch Primer

Hey everyone, just wondering about etch primer. I've took my front wings down to bare metal and i know etch primer is the thing to use, but i need to do a slight bit of cattying to the wing. The question is do i etch prime the wing then put the catty on or do i do the catty work then prime the wing?

Last bit I did was a door. I etched it with u-pol etch primer (not the aerosol version) rather than the 2k then did the filling (more levelling really) and used hi build on top of that. Sometimes the etch cause the filler to sink.
