antz Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 Im going to get a pair of new numberplates made up for my car when I get it restored as I still have original ones on it form new (with dealer stickers ) but they are getting a bit weathered and look rough. Thing is.... Do I go for pressed aluminium standard plates like this: or the rivted raised letters like it currently has one (old photo and they look quite clean and nice there )
Admin Vista Posted July 26, 2009 Admin Report Posted July 26, 2009 cost is irrelevant So are numberplates (IMHO)
antz Posted July 26, 2009 Author Report Posted July 26, 2009 cost is irrelevant So are numberplates (IMHO) nah cos black and silver dont suit mine and modern plates just look gay. so i need to choose which of the two options im left with and which one would look best/original and period
countrybumpkin Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 as it was originaly fitted with rivited plates i'd go for them, and you dont see many cars with rivited plates now so it would be nice to be a bit different
Copey Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 are the rivited ones steel or ally? if they are steel then go pressed ally, one less thing to rust
stevepeanut Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 Antz, go for which ever is closest to what was on the car when it was made
vibrating_Cake Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 im not the only one saying this... but a numberplate is a numberplate... spend the money changing the oil/coolant/plugs and have a better car overall =)
garyv6100e Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 Go for rivited plates Antz , nice number plates are needed when you have done a lot of exterior work IMO otherwise it looks like the job was done on the cheap
Trevmk3 Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 go for the ones like you already have mate, i may stick mine back on someday but it currently looks alright with the black and silvers
antz Posted July 27, 2009 Author Report Posted July 27, 2009 thin ill get the rivited letters. after all thats what it came with and £50 for the pair aint a bad price
