Mk 1 Mark Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 when you buy Gaz, After sales and shocks are pukka and i would say best shocks for the money Had Gartrac shocks on my old Mk2 and they were pukka but were on the car when i bought it.

And re money, Gartrac are only around £100 dearer aren't they? I'd prefer to go easy at the pub for two nights and get quality.

If your after a crossmember and mounts that sit the engine pissed in the bay there are loads on the market for 1/3 of the price.

If your after a crossmember and mounts that sit the engine pissed in the bay there are loads on the market for 1/3 of the price. I think at the end of the day you get what you pay for. I know for a fact that if i was taking my escort on a historic safari rally in the arse end of nowhere i would rather have parts that were built with fitness for purpose in mind instead of profit margins. Yes they are expensive. But its not like rally design where you have to spend half a day "Adjusting" it to fit. I havent gotten either. But when the cash is there. Ill be going Gartrac. Gotta be a reason they supplied all the works Escorts to ford in the 70's!

Never seen them use any used/cheap inserts.

I throught my mk2 handled well...... Untill Gartrac set it up,it transformed it!!!!!!!!! Dave set up Ari Vatanen's mk2's !!!!!!! Been doing it for 40 years!!

So Ohlins and Penske are well and truly out. I still consider Gartrac to be reasonably priced (even though they are expensive if that makes any sense). So if its a case of saving for a couple more months and getting something of superior quality this is what I will do
