mk1mexico Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 looking good, hows the headgasket on the brown one?
BigDave Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 Head gasket is doing just fine mate.. Turned out to just be the radiator in the end, but at least I know there is a new gasket in there for good measure. The car has only done 50K since new, but its still good to know. Cheers all...
redrocket Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Thats a great color combo and the superlites are lovely on her!! Lovely collection
BigDave Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 Looks very similar to your signature pic? I still cant work out what actual colour the car is by the way? I am going to repaint it maybe next year, but keep the same shade of Red. Cheers
redrocket Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 no mine is kinda terracotta/poo brown stripe... Im not a fan of most of the old skool colors (so shoot me) but i'll just have to live with that until i have time for a respray!
BigDave Posted October 4, 2009 Author Report Posted October 4, 2009 Mine is a red kin dof terracotta as well, its a weird mix really? I am going to keep it that colour though, I like it.
don Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 some nice looking motors there mate would love my driveway to look like that
BigDave Posted October 4, 2009 Author Report Posted October 4, 2009 Cheers mate. Will be even better when I finally get the Mk2 out under its own steam!! Cars normally live inside by the way. I just always seem to take snaps when they are out the front being swapped around in the garage. The street looks class when they are all out to play!
monkeymoreton Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 lovin the rally look thts the best mk1 i've seen
X-pack-Glyn Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 The estate looks spot on mate, nice one., three escorts....are you a millionaire or something? ..Tell me, are the mex decals for the estate any longer than standard, or is it just a normal set of mex stripes (someone else can answer if they know).
BigDave Posted October 10, 2009 Author Report Posted October 10, 2009 Four Escorts mate, I have the Mk2 as well... oops! The side stripes are possibly longer but come cut anyway, so you get a few extra inches to play about with atthe door cuts. You also need to cut a small piece to go over the filler neck hole, estaes dont have it in the same place. The only bit you need to specify longer are the roof stripes, you need 7 foot in total, so much longer than standard ones. If you mention it to the grahics people they can cut them longer for you, one end is straight and square cut at the glass anyway so dead easy. Cheers to monkey by the way!
X-pack-Glyn Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 Well, your cars an inspiration...what are the spot lamps off?
BigDave Posted October 12, 2009 Author Report Posted October 12, 2009 They were advertised by a chap in Northern Ireland as Truck Spotlights. He advertised sometimes on EBay for the type with the ring round the outside in 9". He did have onbe set of plain lamps inhis shop so I bought them. Then about two weeks later he got back in touch having found a second set, I bought them also. The lampos have ythe look of the Cibie lamp with the funny name that I cant recall? They are just made of plastic so very light and wont rust. I have a box full of Cibies and 20-20 lamps but jus thought these lamps would be sorted for this car. The brackets are the quick release ally type that a bloke made up for me. I wired them up so the connectors can be broken and the lights easily removed also. Relays are connected to the main beam switch feed but also toggle switched on the dash so they can go on or off. I just like all six lights to flash at once...tart! Very bright lights by the way, much better than justthe little oval standard ones! Cheers Dave...
