Hi, I may be able to help. I have just bought an Escort with 1300 crossflow, which has a Type 9 fitted. Though the bellhousing bolt holes line up, there is a gap between block and outer edge of the bellhousing. this could probably sorted with the steel plate you need to mate up to a pinto. I'm not sure what clutch you'll need when I get round to removing the engine I'll take some photos for you. Pete

the gap is normal just the dust cover missing. also the input shaft is to long and will push into the back of the crank sharft and damage the crank thrush washers. just trim 1/4 of an inch of the end then re-chamfer

do you have to trim the shaft on all type 9 boxs or just the ones out of the 2.8? a mate has found some clutch centres for a £10 so bit of a result, also found a slave cylinder that pulls so will convert to hydrolic will im on :)
