help please

I'm trying with little sucess to fit a 711 block xflow where there was once a 681 in a mk2 cortina, but how ever hard I try It wont go between the crossmember, I'm using the original mounts and just asumed a 1600xflow is a 1600xflow, do these fit or do I need new mounts or make some form of modification?

Very sorry mods if its in the wrong section but need a quick answer only got tonite to get it sorted before they ship me away again

I seem to recall reading somewhere that because the 711 block has thicker walls than a 681 so that the block engine mounts a slightly wider and you have modify the engine mount to make it fit

If I do cut and weld this is the rubber mount likely to drop off?

if its like a 1600 escort mount they will unscrew off the mount.

but if not the heat from welding would cause it to prob fall off..

711 block is 10mm wider than the 681 block
