Iv had help from guys on here before so i thought i would ask your advice.

Basically got a leak sprung from the end of a rubber hose connecting two copper pipes within my Vaillant Boiler Enclosure.

Its fitted with a sort of 'one use' clip that looks like its been crimped, similar to some modern day car radiator pipes, so it will need to be cut off and replaced with something else. Im confident a decent jubilee clip will hold it or will it???

In any case i need so guidance as to how i drain down the boiler before starting any work.

Thanks in advance for any help

Could get some pictures up tonight if its going to be any help, but i can fix it myself if i have the information on how to drain down the boiler so i dont get an early shower

Hi mate you can get away with just draining the boiler not the whole system turn all the valves off under the boiler and locate the pressure relief valve should have a red nob that is spring loaded or a little black lever mounted on a red cap turn the nob or pull the lever to release the pressure and yes a jubilee clip will work hope this helps chris from radgas

agree, but make sure you refit the casing properly (agood seal) or it might be dangerous

Thanks for the tips people, i have just got home from work, tools in hand, but going to wait until tomorrow, as im off work, and will have time to correct any fook ups

Will the boiler not just fill itself up as i empty it? Or will it be ok as it will be switched off?

Bear with me im a novice

on the flow and return pipes where they come out of the bottom of the boiler they should have some valves on them (usually ball-o-fix type you need a screw driver to turn them off, a quarter turn) then you will just have the water that is in the boiler which you can dump out with the pressure relief valve as already said.

hope this helps mate

the additive will be in the hole system so what you loose out of the boiler is niether here nor there
