mk3tina Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 i wish we still had cars like that prowling the streets. im naming my car but i really dont know what to call it, its the same sort of style as that one being jacked up at the back with big tyres. im liking the spanner on it.
DAZZA Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 I remember this from another picture in street machine, I think you were busting the flares and might have even had a tie on?????
mk3tina Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 i dont suppose that there is any law or rules and regs against chopping off most of the rear valance to show off your diff is there?
sierra1off Posted December 9, 2009 Author Report Posted December 9, 2009 Crikey, forgot about that picture
DAZZA Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 Ha, ... thats the one! This was the first car mag I bought when I was about 7, so its contents are etched into my head!!!!

YOUNGY Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 nice motor,i think that was the one that was for sale up here in clacton painted red
sierra1off Posted December 11, 2009 Author Report Posted December 11, 2009 your righy Youngy I sold it in 1983, never saw it again till last year when the guy in Clacton rang my son and said he thought he had my pick up Went to see it in Clacton. Looked very sad. A few mates urged me to buy it back , but i'm wrapped up in a project at the minute. Would be nice to see it in its old guise again
bortaf Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 I have a couple of that one i think i got em off of you elsewhere ? wicked motor
JAY PS Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 Saw it on ebay recently ,looked very sad ,shame it cant be put back to the 70s look ,it was stunning in its day ,never saw it in the flesh but in sm and other mags of the time If i didnt have too many cars i may have been tempted ,i love the old stuff but it needed lots of work
sierra1off Posted December 13, 2009 Author Report Posted December 13, 2009 Thanks Jay Like you say a lot of work, but the basics are there and it was solid. The other day i found a folder with pictures of the build up,
bortaf Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Sweet got anymore i collect this sort of stuff on old well known cortinas
JAY PS Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Looked a bit bowed in that last photo,or it just me
sierra1off Posted December 15, 2009 Author Report Posted December 15, 2009 nah wasnt bowed, i'd cut the lower part of the rear quarter panels away, and the whole rear panel to make the full width sequential lights
sierra1off Posted December 29, 2009 Author Report Posted December 29, 2009 1984 - 1985 Next project was a Cobra Built, driven and sold within 12 months ( before kids ) Mustang 5.7L twin turbo Manual S Type jag front and rear suspension Home made chassis Loved that car !!!
sierra1off Posted December 30, 2009 Author Report Posted December 30, 2009 1985 - 1990 With wifey expecting, the Cobra had to go to make way for a family car Mk 4 2.3 ghia, was my runabout till no 6 piston ran lean and melted a bit. Was cheaper to fit a mustang 351 cleveland and C4 auto box than it was to recondition the 2.3 Ultimate sleeper, driveable , reliable, fast 11.91 @ 116 mph. tow car and best of all discreet. Loved that car !!!!
sierra1off Posted January 1, 2010 Author Report Posted January 1, 2010 1990 - today The cortina was getting old hat so built a 3 door sierra sleeper using the engine and gearbox from the cortina. cosworth back axle, front brakes and bumper 8x15 rears 6 x 15 fronts. 2 1/2 adjustable front springs Nitrous Oxide Injection, twin exhausts. All standard 1600 interior
sierra1off Posted January 1, 2010 Author Report Posted January 1, 2010 1994 - present Missed not having a topless car. so thought i'd make the s i e r r a convertable. Before i cut the V8 about i did a dummy run on a damaged 1.6 3 door, which turned out not bad so kept it as well as the V8 At the time i was running another blue three door, with a 2L pinto for work, so had three ( plus the missus had a red XR4i) Hence the nickname S i e r r a
