antz Posted December 15, 2009 Author Report Posted December 15, 2009 Stolen from wikipedia: In December 2009, a campaign was launched on Retards Club and Twitter by Jon and Tracy Morter to rebel against the commercialization of the UK music industry. The campaign seeks to generate publicity and try to take the track "Killing in the Name" to the coveted Christmas Number One slot in the UK Singles Chart, which has been dominated for several years by winners from the popular TV show The X Factor. As of 15 December, the Retards Club group membership stands at over 760,000, and has been acknowledged (and supported) by Tom Morello,NME, Terry Wogan, BBC 6 Music, John Lydon, Bill Bailey, BBC Radio 1,Enter Shikari,Hadouken!,Stereophonics Phantom FM, BBC Radio 5 Live, and even the 2004 X Factor winner Steve Brookstein, amongst numerous others. After two days of sales, Killing in the Name was reported to be ahead by approximately 10% with 83,276 downloads compared to Joe McEdlerry's 77,401. However, music insiders predicted that The X Factor single would take the lead following the release of the CD single on the third day, as a physical version of Killing in the Name will not be available in shops.
Mrs O/H/C Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 they are both on the same record label..so its a win win
antz Posted December 15, 2009 Author Report Posted December 15, 2009 they are both on the same record label..so its a win win actually the x factor guy is on the SONY UK label record which simon cowell owns 80% of. Ratm are on the SONY CORP record label which simon cowell owns jack to. Plus its better to have RATM as number 1 than some x factor winner being forced down our throats again, just like last year from a stuck up arrogant man who dyes his hair black and wears his trousers around his nipples.

Dale Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 just bought another copy i'm not a rage fan. i just dont like the way xfactor (with few exceptions... leona lewis, who had a record deal before xfactor just a pants manger) has this big hype in the run up to xmas. release one hit. release an album. then disappear because by this time theres a new xfactor on the tv. a few years later end up on 'i used to be a celebrity for 15 mins, get me out of this love island' come out 3rd. releases a poor excuse for a work out dvd again in time for xmas! i thought it was a good idea year one. it does give people who wouldn't usually get the chance to become something a shot at success.but year after year with no really successful people.. its just simon cowells money making machine.
