Mr2Caps Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 could also be water in the paint when it was sprayed, poss water trap not working correctly, wouldn't show up when the days are warm and dry, but when it gets damper and colder........
stevie Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 Its usually caused by damp under the paint when respraying or moisture getting into the paint itself. Unfortunately it doesnt always show itself straight away. My Cortina has a few of them on a couple of panels that have been replaced/repainted and ill be trrying to put it right in the spring. Im gutted for you mate, it looks a lovely motor.
stevie Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Paint reactions are always a problem on older cars, you just never know whats lurking under there. A good layer of bar coat is going on my Tina before i do the base and clear. Hopefully that will sort the problem out.
stevie Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Painting a car in dog turd....now theres a conservation tactic Barcoat isnt nice stuff as you say, and as you know whats on there from bare metal youre at an advantage straight away. I look forward to seeing pics of it re-done. I hate it when you put time/money/effort into keeping a car in good condition and some evil little basket comes along and wrecks it in two seconds flat. Its only happened to me once and i went absolutely ballistic.
