Building job needed

Hi Chaps i recieved bad news today that a couple of our bigger jobs has fallen through and we have been left with very little work.

 

So I turned to the OSF family in need.

 

I am a qualified Bricklayer and have worked around the building trade for about 5-6 years

 

i am also compitent in painting and decorating, carpentry ( 1st and 2nd fix) plaster boarding, Roofing (flat and pitched) patios and driveways.

 

if you have any work atall i would be so greatfull. even numbers of builder you know.

 

im running out of beer money fast!!

Bloody weather wont help either.

yeah i no this weather is doing my head in. someone wants me to paint the outside of their house but i cant untill it warms up a bit.

we should be doing a garage conversion, sand is frozen solid though so can lay bricks!!

 

instead tiling a floor but at least its nice and warm

I know the score mate i havent worked for 6 weeks , never had it like this been working for me self for nearly 30 years , though many other builders i know are in the same boat , it needs the government to realease some money so the builing industry can start again abit like the car scrappage scheme , and you cant get any benefit unless your out of work 26 weeks so i was told ??? though ive never been on the dole but have paid a stamp and tax all my working life .....

Mr Sam that sounds pretty good nice and warm was hopin of getting on a trowel again in the spring/summer but looks like its a bit sooner.

 

Tom could you give me a rough size of the area just so i have a rough idea and we can go from there.

 

1963 i no my boss has been in the trades for 25 years really popular and gets all his work work of mouth but it has just died out. i really dont want to start with benifits goes agains every moral i have.

 

ive just got got a outside of a house to paint and a driveway to lay ( all the prep works done) so i should be okay for a month or 2 hopefully just need to get this snow to clear.

I know what you mean with the benefits mate im the same i dont think ill ever sign on just ride out the storm has been my way in the past but when i was told the 26 week bit i just thought as usual if you try you get nowt but if your a dosser its in your hand within minutes of signing on .......good on ya getting the painting job it all leads to somthing else.......

yeah thats what im hoping to go just ride it out. there is something wrong with this country people are living in free accomodation paying out for nothing contributing nothing to the community and they get ti handed to then on a plate, where as hard working people who are tryiong hard to work and singing on as a last resort get pushed to the back of the line. its a joke!

 

yeah im pretty happy ive got the job working on a website and getting this bloke to sort me out a few business cards and hopefully it should be all systems go.

 

Going self empleyed 3 years earlier than i expected!! ohh the excitement!

the building game is shit at the mo last year was my worst year and i fear this year will be even worse

i should have been back 2 work this week but its 2 cold to work outside

I was itching to work this week, but we couldn't get to site and it was going to take ages to get there anyway so it's been a shit week. BUT last year was not too bad. The money isn't there like it has been, but there has been work almost every day.

been roofing for over 12 years on me own now, all my work fell through this time last year so i'm now labouring for a rich diy builder, now the snows here weve been out of work since middle of December......

 

how far do we have to go before the goverment steps in.

Thanks guys. so far ive had a few emails off people off here which is great and my uncles has been intouch and he has given me a few of his customers to get in touch with with is also great.
