mk1matt Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 hi Bob the valve clerances for a pre xflow are inlet 0.008in (0.20mm) exhaust 0.018in (0.46mm) this is the settings for a standard cold engine for the GT modle they are inlet 0.010in (0.25mm) exhaust 0.023in (0.58mm) and the manual also states that the are to be done by the rule of nine hope this helps Matt
Guest M.Bird DOHC Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Good luck BOB! Hope you know the rule of 9!
Pipster007 Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Hope you know the rule of 9! Isn't she off Voyager
escort21 Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 whats the rule of 9? Say you start with no1 valve fully open.....the valve you need to adjust will add up to 9, Eg no1 open...so no8 gets adjusted no 2 open so no7 gets adjusted etc Think that makes sense
bashmk1 Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 oh i got yer. ive never done valve clearances like that before, ive always got number 4 rocking and adjusted number one. number 2 rocking then adjusted number 3 and so on.
johnny_h Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 How do you know if the valve is fully open?
flyingbanana Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 the valve u are changing will go down ie 1 and 6 will be fully down and piston will be at the top...thats when they are fully open
