ASBO CAPRI Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 Just bought this a week ago from a guy quite local to me. It was on ebay and amazingly didn't meet its reserve so I went to have a look and couldn't resist it. I've been applying the S decals today. Other plans are to get the front end lowered, Fit bumpers and fit some tasty 13''/7'' rims. Don't know too much about engine other than its a 2.0 pinto with a kent cam (not sure which one) twin 40 webbers and I think it has big valve head. It certainly feels a hell lot quicker than my old 2.0ltr capri in fact it feels as quick as a rover V8 capri I ones had im very impressed. Gonna have to get it on the strip to see what it can do.
lotusless Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 looks good m8 get them bumpers on though

THey are 10''/15'' centerline replica wheels with 275/50/15 hoosier quick time tyres. The back of that car is tubbed and 4 linked to get them under archs

SmokeEm Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Nice Cappa - should run very low 16's with that spec
Guest chriscapriman Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 quality not usually a fan of bumperless mk3 capris, but tha looks damn fine must be the colour and the fact the holes look to have been filled properly nice badgless grille too
brettp Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 hows the v8 coming along did you here about kev aka crap o police are involed now any way like the new adition needs the bumpers though
X-pack-Glyn Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Nice Cappa - should run very low 16's with that spec If you can get it to run a 14.6 il buy you a huge crate of beer!
ASBO CAPRI Posted February 2, 2010 Author Report Posted February 2, 2010 Nice Cappa - should run very low 16's with that spec If you can get it to run a 14.6 il buy you a huge crate of beer! Yeah its got to run atleast 16s I would of thought. I'd be impressed if it ran in the 15s and 14s would just be mental. I had a fairly stock 2.0S on the strip a few years back that could run mid 17s and this new capri will piss rings round that one and my 2.0 laser. Think it would give my old rover v8 capri a run for its money and that ran 14.6 sec best quater. It must be fairly light cos it has absoloutly no interior. hasn't even got a proper dash lol. Think the fella I bought it off said it had a vulcan head on it but he didn't seem to know what cam it was other than a kent one (it said kent full race cam on the ebay add but that could mean anything). Will have to take cam cover off to have look at weekend. I haven't really taken it past 5000rpm so I wonder if thoughs twin 40s are a restriction after that. might swap to 45s or mabey have a spare set of 48s for racing .
ASBO CAPRI Posted February 2, 2010 Author Report Posted February 2, 2010 hows the v8 coming along did you here about kev aka crap o police are involed now any way like the new adition needs the bumpers though Don't supprise me about crap think I was lucky to get out when I could lol. Haven't seen that kev for years now. Well the engines back in the V8 capri but its got to come back out cos I dropped a bolt down the dizzy hole and now its in the sump . Must admit I haven't done much to it in the last couple months. Its too bloody cold lol. I'll crack on with that one soon. I will deffanatly be fitting bumpers back on the new capri cos they just look horrid without them in my opinion.
brettp Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 i did the exact same thing and snapped the dip stick in the sump got that done and now the new sump gasket is leaking

It only did a best 15.9 on the day mate (it threw a follower at the end of that run), the bottom end has covered 150,000 miles and is VERY tired...And smoke em fiddled with something uder the bonnet before that run, if id have been on top form it would have done a 14.6 easy! but saying that was a nice honest run with no bits missing and defo no NOS!
Sparky0417 Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 If you ever decide to sell this capri I'd like to have first dibs haha
