DAZZA Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Whilst the old girl will never make big power, I certainly wouldnt want to restrict what it has got.... Could someone explain the differences and characteristics between 4-1 and 4-2-1 for a Pinto? I see alot of strip cars with 4-1. so assume 4-2-1 is a more suitable road application?
JP. Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 4-2-1 or tri-Y manifold is midrange & torque while Four branch extractors ar more hi revs orientated.
Fiesta Steve Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Basically the 4-1 will push peak power further up the rev range
Toby Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 All engines behave differently but I believe a 4-2-1 is preferable for a pinto - especially under 8K!
