Why can't you use the rockers with the piper box ?

there too big  so i thought about getting the sides macheind, but then i would also need a 50thou plate to go under the rocker cover/ posts so then it would be the same height as the steel posts, and the shaft is a lil bit bigger on the rollers :(

i spoke to me next door neighbour (who does enginnering) and he recons it would be much easyer to start from scratch with the bottom half, rather than modify the piper peice. Also if it were modified, it couldnt be used with standard rockers if i were to sell it

i dont know, ill sort something later, its not a main component so it might have to wait for a while :(

Well, you won't see the roller rockers so no one will know they are even fitted.

Whereas the Piper kit does look cool when you open the bonnet 8)

i 100% understand what you mean  and i really wanna use it

but the cover has no real gain, where as the rockers do

becides, im hopefully gonna have another peice made up so i can run both :D (basically the outline, and just the 8 bolts)

Got a new rocker cover for mine. Makes a huge difference to the look of the engine bay. Just need to sort out a breather or run a pipe to my catch tank.

Currently nothing, there rubbing, although i was thinking of getting a few shims (copper? or steel ??) to put between the rockers and the posts ? just a few thou thick

Also, i think you would be the man to ask, whats the reasoning in having +50 rocker posts??

Cheers :D

I don't like the idea of ally rubbing on ally. I'm not sure what takes the side thrust on a normal roller rocker set up - I'll have to look!

The added height of the post supposedly corrects for the higher lift of the cam (if you install a high lift one!). The thing is though, all cams are ground on different base circles, if the blocks been decked, various push rod length etc will all have an effect if you're looking for the last 1 or 2 hp!

on the standard setup, the rollers run against the steel posts, and some steel spacers (instead of standard springs)

ohh right, so do you think its worth getting a laser cut shim made to go under the rocker cover 50 thou thick, in theory making them +50 rocker posts?

Good effort getting them in  If your using a high ratio rocker your not going to want much cam lift.

Possibly true, but doesn't resolve whether there is a requirement for +50 posts or not....

Some measuring will be required me thinks

was thinking of going for a kent 254 cam, do you think a 244 would be better then ??

wouldnt that give a better tickover aswell??

Sounds technical, I'll let you resolve that one
