silverstreak Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 hi chaps how do i go about fitting a type 9 5 speed box to my 1600 crossflow, what bellhousing/clutch/prop do i need .any advice appreciated
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 you need the pinto bell housing either alloy or cast you need the rs2000 prop you need to cut and move your gear stick hole back about 2 inches and you need to either make/addapt your gearbox mount some move the mount back and use alloy spacer blocks to lower it or some just make their own bracket with box section and bolt it through the floor burtons will do a clutch kit
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 what clutch do i use please im not sure but burton power will tell you if you tell them the engine/box combination
moredoorAsh Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 I think unless the car used to be an auto you'll need to modify the tunnel to take the 5 speed box also
Joe-ashtonmobile Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 You will have to slighty tap it out a bit
shaun1.6ghia Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 what clutch do i use please a 9" 23spline sierra clutch mate ask part co
shaun1.6ghia Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 You will have to slighty tap it out a bit think its just where the starter goes, a rubber mallet wud do it
Boreham Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Next up was to align the clutch, take note here as we had a clutch plate made up to work with the std pressure plate. This can also be done another way by purchasing the later Kent flywheel and getting a Sierra\Sapphire clutch kit to fit. And cutting the hole, note cutting the hole will also take some of the tunnel support away. This is not that serious provided you do not cut the whole support off. The plate then gets turned around to align with the lever position - not shown here. Once we were happy with everything we drilled holes in the floor for the box mounting, note this mounting is actually not correct even though it will work so you need to source a Sierra/Sapphire mounting. We also reinforced the bolts with plate on the inside and outside of the tunnel. or... http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread. ... x-tutorial
