Copey Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 cars been splutterin recently and generally runnin badly so i have checked, coil, dizzy etc, leads & plugs, cleaned the carb out and its STILL runnin crap off to the garage for a compression test now
Admin Mk2Jo Posted March 11, 2010 Admin Report Posted March 11, 2010 But at least you don't HAVE to take it to a main dealers and get it plugged into some expensive diagnostics machine
tom28 Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 very true i hate them when they play up but when there running good its a great feeling
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 ive had a similar day copet but mainly due to me fidling and my ideas see my vernier pulley post i was ready for ebaying my cortina at one point
paul capri Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 hopefully wont be anything serious tom. Theres not alot to go wrong with a carbed pinto If its still running with a points dizzy then its likely to be the condensor.
NeilT Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 yeh but just think how good you will feel when its all been fixed and your blarsting along!
D-FENS Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 I am begining to hate my car all the time now .Got Ashton mobile crew coming round on monday so hopefully i will like it better when they work there magic on it .
Copey Posted March 12, 2010 Author Report Posted March 12, 2010 I still love it, it's just bein a pain, hopefully get it back today, it's annoyin when i know it's probably summert dead simple that I could have done myself, but I have checked everything I could thing of, so it's been sent in now which is no doubt gonna cost me
Andrade Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 last time it happened to me a spark plug was loose
Copey Posted March 12, 2010 Author Report Posted March 12, 2010 compression is all good, not fireing right on cylinder 2... head scratchin time
banarama Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 its the satifaction you get, when it plays up and you fix it
Skimmer Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 I think were all the same in the when its running good its the best car in the world and when it dont or plays up its a pain and we hate old cars..... ............And why do cars always seem to drive/run great the day you have someone coming to buy them then you dont want to sell
Copey Posted March 12, 2010 Author Report Posted March 12, 2010 i have checked everything i can think of now the only thing left is possible cheap fuel, i drove a friend to pick up a capri a few days ago and had to use a different filling station than normal...clutchin at straws now
banarama Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 could be fuel i always use shell v power. its more expensive 3 egg cups to the gallon.
MetalDave Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 mine was running a bit rough the other week at low revs, used v power for about a week and it worked fine after. dunno if it was the petrol that sorted it out but i got me some of them ferrari glasses...
Copey Posted March 14, 2010 Author Report Posted March 14, 2010 its sorted now in the end it was cheap petrol that had shown up other little niggles, some additive in the petrol and its all good, will be stickin a fresh tank of decent fuel in 2moro
shaun1.6ghia Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 i was ready for ebaying my cortina at one point i kno exactly how you feel at the moment guys, im so close to getting rid of it. put a brand new starter in it yesterday worked better than ever then wouldnt do anything today nothing happens, checked earth, battery, all leads and bolts and it doesnt even make a noise
