old cars are a pain!!!

cars been splutterin recently and generally runnin badly

 

so i have checked, coil, dizzy etc, leads & plugs, cleaned the carb out and its STILL runnin crap

 

off to the garage for a compression test now

But at least you don't HAVE to take it to a main dealers and get it plugged into some expensive diagnostics machine

very true i hate them when they play up but when there running good its a great feeling

ive had a similar day copet but mainly due to me fidling and my ideas see my vernier pulley post

If its still running with a points dizzy then its likely to be the condensor.

I still love it, it's just bein a pain, hopefully get it back today, it's annoyin when i know it's probably summert dead simple that I could have done myself, but I have checked everything I could thing of, so it's been sent in now which is no doubt gonna cost me

I think were all the same in the when its running good its the best car in the world and when it dont or plays up its a pain and we hate old cars..... ............And why do cars always seem to drive/run great the day you have someone coming to buy them then you dont want to sell

i have checked everything i can think of now

 

the only thing left is possible cheap fuel, i drove a friend to pick up a capri a few days ago and had to use a different filling station than normal...clutchin at straws now

could be fuel i always use shell v power. its more expensive 3 egg cups to the gallon.

mine was running a bit rough the other week at low revs, used v power for about a week and it worked fine after. dunno if it was the petrol that sorted it out but i got me some of them ferrari glasses...

in the end it was cheap petrol that had shown up other little niggles, some additive in the petrol and its all good, will be stickin a fresh tank of decent fuel in 2moro

i kno exactly how you feel at the moment guys, im so close to getting rid of it.

put a brand new starter in it yesterday worked better than ever then wouldnt do anything today nothing happens, checked earth, battery, all leads and bolts and it doesnt even make a noise
