garyv6100e Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 I was wondering how you can tell on your V5C if your registration number is transferable my 100E is 1955 pre date plate and if it is worth a few quid i may sell it to fund some upgrades but would my new registration number be a dateless plate
Copey Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 maybe, but you could also be given a Q plate or summert annoying
garyv6100e Posted March 16, 2010 Author Report Posted March 16, 2010 maybe, but you could also be given a Q plate or summert annoying Stuff that if thats the case i would keep my number
FredTransit Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 It will be replaced by the DVLA with an age related plate, but that won't be transferable.
Admin Vista Posted March 16, 2010 Admin Report Posted March 16, 2010 It will be replaced by the DVLA with an age related plate, but that won't be transferable. Don't they issue all the cars that pre-date age related plates with an A plate if the original no is transferred off?
FredTransit Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 I know what you are saying, as they have a lot of 1960s A regs left.
Smudger105e Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 Vista, They used to do that, but apparently it was against their own guidelines, making a car look newer than it is, as A reg should be on a 1963 vehicle! Age related plate is what you will get, but this will be non transferable, and this will be written on the V5c
Ken B Posted March 17, 2010 Report Posted March 17, 2010 Smudger is correct. But be warned they will want to see your car for inspection before the plate is removed. So ensure your V5 details match your car otherwise you will be opening a can of worms. Also DVLA are still techically breaking their own rules for some cars as the current layout of age related plates were not issued until the 60's. ie numbers before letters. For 50's cars should be the other way round.
garyv6100e Posted March 17, 2010 Author Report Posted March 17, 2010 Cheers for all the replys something to think about especially if i can keep a 3 letter 3 number reg plate
