stevepeanut Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Today for the first time ever, I was taken out in a car with a high power pinto, it was an engine built for a rally car. A fellow member took me out in his mk2 escort with it fitted. I've only ever been in cars with standard pintos. This tuned 2.0 was amazing. I've always wanted to go zetec/cosworth/xe if I ever got the money for a fast engine. This has totally opened my eyes. Cant get over how quick it was, but it also behaved and seemed to work well on the road. I always thought a mad pinto would be a pig on the road, crap low down and then a screaming topend. This for me is the way to go, I badly want a sorted pinto now.
Fiesta Steve Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Glad to see you've seen the light I could probably convert you to Crossflow
banarama Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 thats the way to go / easy to maintain as well.
Andrade Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 My brother has one for sale. He only did one 1/4 mile run with it after re building it. Then he got married, bought a house, had a child and stopped racing (usual story lol) The engine has no damage whatsoever, and is sitting in the garage waiting for a new owner, inclusive of turbo and everything between sump to top cover. It has cosworth parts in it and he used to pour all his money at that time into it, so it has all the top notch bits. There's photos here: http://www.angliazetec.com/family.php
paul capri Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 I realise this has gone off topic but what management did he use on the pinto turbo?

Andrade Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 He used to do 11s with only 18 boost. When he had tried to take it up to 20 it broke 3rd gear, so he decided to keep it at 18 to avoid investing thousands into a more heavy duty gearbox (the 3rd he broke was of a quaife dog box) If i remember correctly, he had said that if you have the right running gear to handle the boost it could go beyond the 400bhp mark
Andrade Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 How much is it for sale? I think about 2400 in your money. It comes with the turbo, air filter and intercooler
willsy Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 Value for money mate. You can't beat a full on Pinto
