Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 i need to know what i can do to stop this happening. everytime i get out of my cortina and then touch it i get a static shock doesnt matter if its been running or just sat stationary turned off, once ive got in it and back out i get a shock soon as i touch it

Admin Vista Posted April 21, 2010 Admin Report Posted April 21, 2010 it might be the type of shoes you're wearing are building up a static charge in you from rubbing against the carpet. Try putting a rubber mat down in the drivers footwell and see if that makes a difference.

Try putting a rubber mat down in the drivers footwell and see if that makes a difference. i dont have a carpet just alloy cheuquered plates on the floor i shut the door with out touching the metal today and walked over to buy a ticket and got a bat from the ticket machine it must be me
rambo67 Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Use to get this from my Cougar . I ended up touching the drivers window to discharge the voltage ! Did it by closing the door via the door glass . I know glass dont conduct electric but it seemed to work

Savvi Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Yes I used to get them a lot and when your in & out of cars all day it starts to get annoying, then it happened when i was at someone's house and they suggested changing ............. i laughed until i got home and told my missus, then she tried it without telling me and asked a few weeks later if i was still getting shocks ............. i wasn't
